Absorption, diffusion and bass control shape reflections and reverberation inside the room. Treatment can improve clarity without necessarily preventing neighbours from hearing the source.
The weakest path matters
A high-performance wall can be undermined by a lightweight door, open air path or shared ceiling void. Isolation should be considered as a complete enclosure.
More foam is not a complete strategy
